4 Fire-resistance tests The test for elements of structure, called the fireresistance or fire-endurance test, is one which has been agreed in all countries concerned with these problems on broadly the same basis. While there is variation in detail there is little divergence on the aims of the test and how these can be realized. In this country the test is specified in BS 476, Part 1, Section 3, but the following four conceptions on which the test is based have general international acceptance. 1 Element of structure.
